WOODWORKING!!!

So for a long time now the boys have been asking to work with wood to make something. They keep saying, "I want to build something". So, on Saturday I took them over to my dad's house and let them fill up on wood scraps. Ryan was working kinks out of his work computer so he couldn't help them until tonight. Evan and Chandler decided to make a small desk with a small seat. And, Ethan made a bird house. Ethan originally made a "birdhouse" out of a fruit roll up box but was getting very frustrated that no birds were eating his seeds inside. I tried to explain to him that the opening to the box was too small for a bird to get into. I guess he had more faith on the bird's ability to suck it in and squeeze through the opening because I was definitely mistaken on my assesment. (according to Ethan) Well, now with his new birdhouse he thinks he will catch a bird and have it for a pet. Once again I am trying to tell him that we can't catch the birds because they need to go back to their families. And once again I am wrong with the bird's feelings because according to Ethan the bird won't want to go back. (Ah, 4 yr. old innocence!) Oh, at one point Ethan was hammering a nail all by himself and doing a really good job getting it pounded in, and he says while hammering, "Yeah me!".Both projects turned out great! Great job boys! And thank you daddy for helping and being so patient with the boys!

MOM'S 60TH!!!

Today was mom's birthday. She would have been 60. To think that it has already been almost two years since she passed away just brings it home once again that she was wayyyyy to young to go. Fifty-eight is so young. Days like these where you just can't help but think about her and miss her even more than you already do are hard. There's an ache that lingers and kind of puts a kink in your day just a little bit more. But, I must say along with the hurt the really good memories and fun times come through really strong too. I'm sure that is mom's way of telling me to not be sad and focus on all the great times we had together and share those with my boys.

I picked up Angie after I picked up Ethan from pre-school and we went out to the cemetery to bring some flowers for mom's headstone. The flowers always make it look so nice and I'm sure mom loves the pretty color! She always did. Chase enjoyed waving hi to all the landscaping crew on their lawnmowers. After we put the flowers where we wanted them Chase came up and put his hand on the marker. It really touched me that he never got to know her here on earth but that she was just holding him a year ago before he came to earth. And I'm sure all the future grandchildren that are waiting to come down are having a fabulous time with her and her with them. We love you mom and miss you so much. Happy Birthday!!!

ETHAN'S FIRST DAY OF PRE-SCHOOL!!!

Today was a big day for our E-man! Ethan started pre-school! He has been waiting for a very long time watching two older brothers go to school, have homework and bring home art to hang on the fridge. Well today he got to do all three. This is the same pre-school that Chandler went to so Ethan knew the drive there. We pulled up and he hopped out and started walking in by himself. I am used to having to walk in and stay for a while with Evan and Chan, so I was fully prepared to do so with Ethan. So, he starts going to the door without me. So I say, "Ethan don't you want me to walk with you?" Ethan- "Oh, um okay." So he politely waits for me already across the street while I get Chase out. I could clearly tell that I was definitely holding him up. We go through the door and I didn't have the child clinging to the back of my leg hiding behind me like I have had in the past. Ethan came in knew where to put his backpack, from watching Chandler I'm sure, and just found some toy all by himself. Well he was playing and I was talking to his teacher Ms. Emily and catching up on what we've been doing over the last year and I hear, "Mom?" (Me-) "Yes Ethan?" (Ethan-) "Will you just go?" I have never been so happy dropping off a child on the first day of school ever! I knew right then and there that he was going to be just fine. In fact, so fine that at that moment I was getting in his way of having his own school experience. Emily and I quickly ended our conversation and I was out the door. He wasn't rude or snotty just simply saying in his four year old way, "Mom, I'm good. Now leave so we can start school." So precious. Love ya E-man!!!
Ethan's first school art project! He says it's an egg, Ms. Emily says it was just a painting. I think I agree with Ethan.

Luckily I got this picture of Ethan, Chase and I before we were "asked to leave".
